The event will have team’s competition from around the world including Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, New Guinea, Indigenous Australia and the Barbarians combined nations team as they take on each other playing ITR/NTRA international rules.
Fast Touch has been well represented with player selections in the Australian teams, Eddie and Simon Lamb, Mark Tewkesbury & Jock Lodge all got the call up after playing great QLD State of Origin games at Coffs Harbor on June 25th. A considerable number of Fast Touch representative players have already been named in the combined nations Barbarians teams including Ian Robinson, Glen Thompson, Corbin Levick, Ryan Bertwistle, Matt Tewkesbury, Marty Neil, Nether Neary, Louise Hunt, Brooke & Ashleigh Thompson & Mark Fitzpatrick. Chris Graham has been named as the Barbarians Open men’s captain and the Barbarians open men’s team looks exceptionally good on paper with explosive speed and high skill level.
Selectors in our Brisbane and Gold Coast competitions have been busy over the past two weeks selecting players, coaching and management staff as they compile the strongest possible team line ups.
The full Barbarians squads will be announced on Monday the 19th of July with players being selected in Open men, Open Women, Open mixed & masters categories. Player selected in the Barbarians squad will come from Australia, New Zealand, PNG and the UK and training will be based on the Gold Coast. Spectators should keep an eye out for the BA BA’s Blue White and Grey strip at the World Cup.
October the 15th will feature the prestigious Trans Tasman series and is shore to see some great touch as the Aussie teams take on the touring New Zealand line up. The Kiwis are competition favorites in both the Trans Tasman and the IRB World Cup.
So mark down the weekend in your calendar and come along and enjoy some great touch rugby, live music and festivities at the 2010 ITR World Cup.
