WEDNESDAY FINAL NEWS [07/07/2010]

Wednesday Final News....

This season Wednesday night competition saw some great games of touch played and some exciting fast touch talent. The competition has provided some very close and exciting results and a heap of competitive games against some old rivals. Grand Finals were played and we saw some high scoring and close games as teams battled it out to become premiers of their respective division and our A Grade teams fought for the $500 prize division.

Our feature competition Men’s “A” division has been a close & highly competitive competition for a few season and old rivals U need A Massage and The Fella’s took each other on in a replay of last season’s game. With both teams going “tit for tat” with try’s and very little separating both teams the difference came down to composure and unforced errors & the U Need a Massage boys took the spoils with a one point advantage, winning the game 7 – 6 in a thriller. Barbarian’s combined nation’s representative Nathan Neary was named player of the match but mentions to Ben Threw & Tim Trapp (The Fella’s) and father and son combination Matt and Mark Tewkesbury (NTRA Australian rep) are warranted after playing some great Touch Rugby.

In our Mixed “A” division final minor premiers and favourites the Roosters took on Laney’s in what turned out to be a thriller. The two teams played a vocal and competitive game from start to finish and at full time were equal at 5 all. A drop off pursued and some well timed composure and some solid on the line attack by the Roosters allowed player of the match Jess White the opportunity to score a match winning try in the left corner in a grand final thriller.
A great game of Touch Rugby was played in the C division final between Coxey’s Playmates and Touch This. The guys from “Touch this” took the honours after making their first final and have been by far the comps most improved side. The crew from Touch this are one of the most well liked teams in the competition and played exceptionally well to beat a committed and talented Playmates team.

The entertaining Men’s B Division allowed two arch rivals on the field but good mates off the field playing some good touch. The well seasoned Shreegies team competing against Mudgee Luv. The final was a battle of skill and speed by two champion teams. In a close and well spirited game the two teams were neck and neck at the half time break. Both teams displayed two different brands of touch football, the Mudgee Luv boys used cut out passes & inside balls & ran great lines while the Shreegies team combined great drives with some good lateral ball play. The final score line did not reflected the close nature of the game with the LUV team winning 6 – 3.

In other division; SJM (3) lost to a well drilled Fasties team (7) in men’s C grade, Can’t Touch This (3) defeated Double Plugga’s (1) in a close mix D final and well drilled O’Neill’s Transport, lead by competition legend Jackie O'neill beat a very improved VIP’S team in the mix B final.

Season Two kicks off next week (July 14th) and teams are reminded to get their nomination forms back to administration. If anyone wants to enter a team please contact us for details.
